Obtaining an Air Pollution Control Burning Permit:

You are required to obtain an Air Pollution Control Burning Permit if:
  • Your property is 5 acres or more - OR -
  • The parcel is commercial - OR -
  • You are a contractor
The permit cost is $12.00. The Department accepts cash or checks (made payable to APCD) only. The permit is valid for one (1) year from date of issuance.
 
If you will be conducting a prescribed burn on an area greater than 10 acres or burning more than one ton of material, a Smoke Management Plan (SMP) is required. Please contact the District for more information.

A Burn Permit from Cal-Fire is required during certain times of the year; please check with your local Cal-Fire Station. More information regarding Cal-Fire Burn Permits is available at:

 
New Permits
If you wish to obtain a new permit, and you have not been issued a permit in the past, you must complete the Application below and submit it, along with the $12.00 fee to: APCD 891 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas, CA 95249.
Renewals
If you have been issued a permit in the past, and wish to renew, please do not complete the application unless there have been changes to your information. You may submit your $12.00 payment along with your Permit Number to: APCD 891 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas, CA 95249 and a new permit will be issued to you through the mail.
 
Once you have obtained this permit, you must call the Burn Information Line at 209-754-6600 prior to burning to verify burn day status.
