This is the primary GIS tool. It should provide most of the functions the tools below can provide.
This application provides information to determine if a parcel is in, or near, a flood plain. In using this application it is important to keep in mind the accuracy of the data. The FEMA Flood Plain layer is only accurate to +/- 50 ft or so, and our Parcel layer varies in accuracy from +/- 10 ft to +/- 700 ft. This means, for example, that if you find a parcel is in, or out, of a flood plain by a few hundred feet you can not say for sure if it really is in or out of the flood plain.
You must contact the local Building Department before basing any legal decision on this information. We will be improving the Parcel layer over time, but there will always be some factor of uncertainty.
Provides Aerial Imagery of Calaveras County (includes road and parcel layers which can be disabled). The imagery consists of 1998, 2002, 2004 and 2006 aerial image tiles which have been joined to form a complete image of the county. The Aerial photos do not become visible (turn on) until you have zoomed in.
1998 USGS B&W are black and white, and are at a lower resolution.
Also available here are the USGS Topo Maps of Calaveras County. The layer has been developed from scanned paper Topo maps which have been joined to form a complete topo map of the county.
Uncheck the aerials layers and check the topo layer to view topos.
If selected, the parcel layer does not become visible (turn on) until you zoom in.
